financial position has now greatly improved, and, on the representations of the Director, Medical and Sanitary Services, with which I entirely concur, as to the desirability of providing the medical facilities which this large section of the population at present almost completely lacks, I caused the matter to be brought informally before the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council, which has unanimously recommended that the construction

of the launch be proceeded with at once.

It is now intended that a sea-going vessel should be provided, capable of proceeding outside harbour limits and
